PROGRAM 03 · 1 TO 2 WEEKS · OSD-DEPENDENT ACCELERATED TRANSITION

Reduced
Type Rating.

Accelerated transition to a related aircraft type where the applicable Operational Suitability Data (OSD) permits reduced training credit. Designed for type-rated pilots moving between same-family types (e.g. A320 to A321 / B737NG to MAX).

01 · Target Audience & Transition

Who This Pathway Is For.

This is not a shortcut. It is an eligibility-dependent pathway for pilots who already hold the relevant base-type qualification.

02 · Eligibility Matrix

Requirement Matrix.

Eligibility for reduced/shortened training is determined from the applicable aircraft OSD and DGCA approval.

01
Base Type Qualification
Applicant should already hold the relevant base aircraft type rating, or have completed the type-training requirements for the base aircraft where the applicable reduced/shortened pathway permits credit.
02
Aircraft / Variant Relationship
Reduced or shortened training is not automatically available merely because two aircraft belong to the same family. Eligibility and credit must be established from applicable aircraft OSD, Flight Crew document and approved training pathway.
03
Recent Experience
Recent experience on the base type may be an operational/training prerequisite depending on the specific OSD, operator programme and approved course.
04
DGCA Approval of Reduced Credit
Credit towards reduced/shortened type-rating training is subject to the applicable OSD and approval by DGCA Flight Standards Directorate (FSD).
05
Licence & Medical
Pilot must hold the appropriate DGCA licence/rating and meet applicable medical and licensing requirements for the intended exercise of privileges.
06
Training & Skill Test
Training, checking and any required skill test must follow the approved type-specific programme.
HOW CREDIT WORKS

The Three-Tier Verification

Step · 01

Aircraft OSD

Determines the applicable credit for the relevant aircraft type or variant family.

Step · 02

DGCA FSD Approval

Validates the reduced/shortened pathway against the applicable regulatory framework.

Step · 03

Approved Programme

Determines the actual training and checking route for the individual transitioning pilot.
